Es ist das Gesicht, von dem sie geglaubt hatte, es nie wieder zu sehen: Shane Nelson, ihr Ex-Freund, der f\u00fcr ein Verbrechen verurteilt wurde, bei dem sie selbst eine entscheidende Rolle gespielt hat.<\/p><p>Brooke hat damals alles getan, um Shane hinter Gitter zu bringen. Sie hat ausgesagt, sie hat Hinweise geliefert, und sie hat geglaubt, dieses Kapitel ihres Lebens sei f\u00fcr immer abgeschlossen. Doch nun sitzt er ihr jeden Tag gegen\u00fcber, starrt sie an, als wolle er eine Rechnung begleichen. Diese Ausgangslage ist stark, und Freida McFadden nutzt sie in den ersten Stunden hervorragend aus. Die Atmosph\u00e4re des Hochsicherheitsgef\u00e4ngnisses ist dicht, und man f\u00fchlt mit Brooke, wie sie bei jedem Blickkontakt mit Shane zusammenzuckt. Barbro Viefhaus liest das mit ruhiger, pr\u00e4ziser Stimme und gibt vor allem Brooke eine verletzliche Note, die gut zu der Figur passt. Die 8 Stunden und 43 Minuten sind gut gef\u00fcllt, auch wenn ich nicht alles gleich stark fand. Nach dem starken Einstieg verliert die Geschichte f\u00fcr meinen Geschmack an Fahrt. Brooke gr\u00fcbelt viel, kreist immer wieder um dieselben Erinnerungen, und ich hatte \u00f6fter das Gef\u00fchl, dass sich Passagen wiederholen. Nat\u00fcrlich geh\u00f6rt das Nachdenken zu einem Psychothriller dazu, um Spannung aufzubauen, aber ich h\u00e4tte mir an einigen Stellen einfach mehr Tempo gew\u00fcnscht. Ich habe sogar einmal die Wiedergabegeschwindigkeit erh\u00f6ht, um schneller voranzukommen, was bei den ersten Stunden \u00fcberhaupt nicht n\u00f6tig war.<\/p><p>Auch die Nebenfiguren bleiben f\u00fcr mich blass. Die W\u00e4rter, die Kollegen in der Klinik, selbst die anderen Insassen, sie wirken oft wie Staffage, die nur dazu da ist, das Setting zu untermalen. Das ist bei diesem Genre nicht ungew\u00f6hnlich, aber gerade weil Brooke und Shane so stark gezeichnet sind, fiel mir der Unterschied deutlich auf. Wer bei jeder Figur Tiefe erwartet, k\u00f6nnte hier entt\u00e4uscht sein.<\/p><p>Was mich am Ende \u00fcberrascht hat, ist, wie viel ich trotz dieser Schw\u00e4chen mitgefiebert habe. Die zentrale Frage, warum Shane sie nicht vergisst und was er wirklich wei\u00df, hat mich durchgehalten. Und die Aufl\u00f6sung, die ich so nicht kommen sah, hat am Ende noch einmal alles zusammengef\u00fchrt. Es ist kein perfektes H\u00f6rbuch, aber es ist eines, das man nicht so schnell vergisst, und genau deshalb f\u00e4llt mein Urteil vers\u00f6hnlicher aus, als ich es nach dem Mittelteil erwartet h\u00e4tte.<\/p><p>Fazit von mir: Wenn ihr ein H\u00f6rbuch mit starker Grundidee und einem Setting sucht, das man selten in dieser Dichte findet, seid ihr hier richtig.
