Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series is science fiction at its most operatic, built on a brutal caste system where a mining slave named Darrow infiltrates the ruling class to tear it apart from within. The audiobooks, narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds, are genuinely something else. His voice carries the epic scope of the story without ever tipping into melodrama, and that matters enormously when the books run eight to twenty hours each.
