The book tells the story of an Orphan, Harry Potter, he was reluctantly taken in by his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, as harsh and mean as can be, who do not hesitate to make him sleep in the closet just below the stairs of the house. A victim of constant bullying, he also has to put up with the incessant whining of his cousin Dudley, a greedy and insufferable child who gets everything he wants from his parents.
From their perspective, Vernon and Petunia despise their nephew, as his unpredictability reminds them too much of their volatile and mysterious parents, not to mention his unexplained death.
Despite his approaching eleventh birthday, Harry doesn't expect anything out of the ordinary: no card, no gift, or even a birthday party. However, that's when he discovers that he is the child of two powerful wizards and that he has equally extraordinary powers.
