The boy she dreamed about in high school is back, and he builds race cars now
Quinn Carter is finished making bad decisions. After falling for the wrong guy and getting burned, she has clawed her way to a fresh start in college and has no intention of letting another bad boy wreck it. The plan is simple: keep her head down, protect her reputation, and stay far from trouble. The plan does not account for Ransom Ward, the one boy she quietly dreamed about back in high school, walking right back into her life.
Ransom is not the untouchable crush he used to be. He has built something real for himself in the world of street racing, turning skill with an engine into a name and a crew of his own at Hollows Garage. Quinn was out of reach once, and now she is back and threatening everything he has worked for. Thrown together whether they like it or not, the two of them strike sparks fast, and her careful defenses start coming loose with every late night around the cars.
Told in dual point of view, Heart Wrenched is the spicy opening to Kate Crew's Hollows Garage series, built on a found-family crew and a second-chance pull, with trouble simmering under the romance. The audiobook splits Quinn and Ransom between Aaron Donahue and Mandy Figueroa, giving each side of the story its own voice. It is an adult listen, full of heat and high revs, made for anyone who loves a reformed bad boy who falls hard.

I went in for the cars and the bad-boy-turned-good setup, and Heart Wrenched delivered both with enthusiasm. It is a debut, and you can feel that in places, but the chemistry between Quinn and Ransom hooked me early, and the dual narration kept me in the driver's seat the whole way.
The setup is catnip if you like the tropes. Quinn is rebuilding after getting burned, Ransom is the high school crush who grew into a street-racing mechanic with his own crew, and the two of them get thrown together until the tension snaps. The found-family element around the garage is the part I did not expect to love as much as I did. The crew shows up for each other, and that warmth gives the romance a backbone.
Ransom falls hard and fast, and depending on your taste that is either the appeal or the catch. I wanted the slow-burn tension to last a little longer before he went all in, and a couple of reviewers felt the same. The plot also runs hot, with a problem to solve in nearly every chapter, which kept me listening but occasionally tipped into a lot happening at once. For a debut, though, the momentum rarely flagged.
On content, this is an adult romance with explicit, open-door scenes and a decent amount of heat. It also touches some heavier territory, including bullying and violence, so it is worth checking the trigger list if that matters to you. None of it is a surprise for the genre, and the happy ending lands where you want it to. I closed it ready to start book two.
The dual narration is what sells it on audio. Aaron Donahue gives Ransom a low, cocky warmth that suits a bad boy with a soft center, and Mandy Figueroa makes Quinn guarded and funny without losing her vulnerability. Splitting the leads across two voices fits a dual-POV story like this one, and their pacing through both the banter and the steamier scenes kept the energy high. At just under eleven hours, it never dragged.
