The plot twist around the abdication and what follows it is well placed and genuinely changes the shape of their problem.

On the narration: Aiden Snow handles Rhys with exactly the right restraint, and the shift in his delivery when Rhys stops pretending to be indifferent is one of the better performances in the Tantor Audio catalog. Cindy Kay gets more divided reactions from listeners, with some finding her voice slightly older than Bridget reads on the page. It is a fair observation. What she does well is the frustration and the quiet determination that runs through Bridget's chapters, and those land consistently even if the register does not quite match the character's age on first impression.
