Some chances only come around once, until they don't
Riley Dover has one goal left before graduation: get through her final requirements without any more complications. A scheduling disaster throws that plan out the window when she finds out the only way to finish on time is to team up with a student athlete tutoring program, and the name attached to her file belongs to the one person she swore she was done with for good.
Will Caufield is the reason Riley stopped watching hockey three years ago, and now he is standing in the doorway of her life again, looking exactly like the guy who broke it the first time. He has spent three years wondering what actually went wrong between them, and Riley is the only one who knows the real answer. Helping her finish her degree was supposed to be simple. Being near her again is anything but.
Old feelings do not wait for permission, and neither does the truth Riley has been sitting on since the night everything fell apart. Before this is over, she will have to decide whether telling Will what really happened is worth risking the fragile thing rebuilding itself between them.

Book two of the Phil-U series swaps the bet premise for something with more emotional weight, and I went in curious whether Madi Leigh could pull off second chance romance as well as she handled the rivalry energy of the first book. She does, and in some ways this one stuck with me longer.
Riley Dover's situation is set up cleanly: a paperwork problem forces her into a tutoring arrangement with the one student athlete she has spent three years avoiding. Leigh does not waste time getting Will Caufield back into her orbit, and the tension between them reads as lived in rather than manufactured for plot convenience.
What makes this entry different from the first book is the weight of the history between the leads. Will and Riley already broke each other once, and the book takes its time letting old wounds surface instead of rushing them straight back together. Riley's secret, the one that ended things three years ago, is handled with real patience, and the reveal earns the emotional payoff Leigh is clearly building toward.
Hockey stays present throughout, the way it did in the first book, and Will's career gives the story a second set of stakes alongside the romance itself. Fans of the first book will appreciate the cameo presence of Levi and Grace without the story leaning on them to do any heavy lifting.
This is another spicy entry in the series, and the chemistry between Will and Riley carries real heat once the emotional walls start coming down. If that combination of second chance angst and heat is what brought you to this series, book two delivers more of it.
Vincent Skye and Sofia Lette return, and the familiarity shows. Skye gives Will a quieter, more wounded register than Levi's cocky energy in book one, while Lette plays Riley's guardedness in a way that makes her eventual openness land. At just over 11 hours, this is a slightly tighter listen than the first book, and the pacing benefits from it.

What Are the Chances? by Madi Leigh reunites Riley Dover with Will Caufield, the hockey player who broke her heart three years earlier, after a degree requirement forces her into a tutoring arrangement with him. Set once again at Phil-U, the second book in the series leans into second chance romance instead of the bet premise that drove the first.
