What makes Aiden King so magnetic is that he's genuinely dangerous. Rina Kent doesn't soften her anti-heroes, and Aiden is no exception. He's cruel, controlling, and terrifyingly possessive, the kind of character who makes you uncomfortable and completely obsessed in equal measure. Elsa is the perfect foil, a girl who's been dealt a terrible hand and still refuses to break. Watching them circle each other, with all the tension, manipulation, and raw chemistry, is electric. The enemies to lovers arc is handled brilliantly, and every scene crackles with intensity.

For fans of the Legacy of Gods series, this book is a fascinating look at the first generation. Deviant King is set in the same universe but follows a different cast, and knowing the connections makes the experience even richer. It's also a fantastic entry point if you're new to Rina Kent, since it shows exactly why she's become the queen of dark romance. The narration by Shane East and Keira Stevens is phenomenal: East gives Aiden that cold, commanding edge that fits the character perfectly, while Stevens brings Elsa's vulnerability and steel to life. The duet narration makes the emotional moments hit even harder.

Be warned, this book ends with a cliffhanger, which is exactly why the Royal Elite trilogy is best binged. Once you finish Deviant King, you'll be reaching for Steel Princess and Twisted Kingdom immediately. At 10 hours and 56 minutes, it's an immersive listen that never drags, and the tension builds relentlessly to the final page. If you love dark college romances, villains you shouldn't root for, and heroines with backbone, Deviant King is a must-listen. I'm already obsessed with this series.
